NYCRUNS x City Tech

We were tasked with designing merchandise and mural concepts for NYCRUN’s annual Brooklyn Experience Half Marathon.

Merchandise

To keep it Brooklyn themed, my team and I explored pizza concepts for our merchandise proposal. These are my individual designs.

Sticker Bomb Mural

The NYCRUNS team was initially going to head into 3 different mural directions. The sticker bomb, the “Welcome to Brooklyn” postcard, and the “Brooklyn Safari” Mural. Ultimately, the team decided to go with just the sticker bomb mural in the end. The image on the left was captured at the Expo for the Brooklyn Experience Half Marathon.

These are my contribution to the sticker bomb mural, these assets were reused for the other two mural as well. Everyone in the class contributed to the murals.

“Welcome to Brooklyn”

Postcard Mural

For this mural, I was tasked with designing the “Y” in “Brooklyn”. All of the letter designs had to be relevant to the Brooklyn Experience. I had proposed two different “Y” designs to the client. Initially, I had the Coney Island Parachute Jump framed inside the letter. One at daytime, and one at sunset. This idea was scrapped because the race did not go to that location. I instead went for a handheld food theme, hot dogs and pretzels on a checker patterned food-liner background. This proved to be more relevant to the overall theme. Like the other murals, this was also a collaborative effort and everyone in the class contributed a design for each letter.
